식목일은 여기저기에서 널리 지켜지고 있습니다.

Arbor Day is abserved all around.

 

식목일은 사람들에게 나무 심기를 장려하는 날입니다.

The Day encorages people to plant trees.

 

식목일은 1872년 미국의 J.스털링 모튼이 제정하였으며,

그는 이후 미국 농무부 장관이 되었습니다.

It was founded by J. Sterling Morton in America in 1872,

who later became the US Secretary of Agriculture.

 

식목일은 1948년 한국에서 공휴일로 지정되었지만 2005년부터는 공휴일에서 제외되었습니다.

It was designated as public holiday in Korea in 1948, but it no longer became a holiday in 2005.

 

그러나 아직도 한국에서는 식목일을 기념합니다.

However, Arbor Day is still celebrated in Korea.

 

한국 삼림청은 사람들에게 나무의 중요성을 알리는 행사를 엽니다.

Korea's Forest Service holds events to enlighten people about the importance of trees.

 

뿐만 아니라 무료로 묘목을 나누어 주기도 합니다.

They also give out free seedlings.

 

많은 사람들이 국립 공원과 산에서 나무 심기 자원봉사를 합니다.

People volunteer to palnt trees at national parks and in the mountains.

 

나무 심기는 돈이 많이 들지 않으면서도

지구 온난화를 예방하고 지구를 구하는 효과적인 방법입니다.

Palnting trees is an inexpencive and effective way to prevent global warming and save the palnt.
